The Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Translation (CIDT) has developed from a private initiative of Cornelis Hulsman and Sawsan Gabra Ayoub Khalil in 1994 and today provides accurate translations to and from Arabic, English, and French. In addition, we undertake a number of research projects a year focusing on contemporary social and political developments in the Middle East and communal relations within the Arab World and between the Arab World and the West.
Much of our work centers around translating news articles and reports that appear in a range of Arabic language newspapers, and which are of particular interest or relevance to intercultural and Arab-West relations. These translations are then made available to students, researchers, journalists and others through the
Arab-West Report (AWR), a weekly electronic digest of translated news summaries from articles in the Arab media. These articles and reports are in turn archived in the AWR Database and made accessible to the public in English and Arabic.
