The
Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Translation (CIDT) has developed from a private initiative of Cornelis Hulsman and Sawsan Gabra Ayoub Khalil in 1994 and today provides accurate translations to and from Arabic and English. In addition, we undertake a number of research projects a year focusing on contemporary social and political developments in the Middle East and communal relations within the Arab World and between the Arab World and the West. CIDT was founded by Sawsan Gabra Ayoub Khalil in 2005 with a change of legal structure to a limited liability company in 2012. Cornelis Hulsman functioned as director of CIDT and editor-in-chief of
Arab-West Report/Dialogue Across Borders until September 15, 2022, when he was succeeded by Dr. Matthew Anderson.
Much of our work centers around selecting and translating news articles and reports that appear in a range of Arabic language newspapers for
Dialogue Across Borders; Emerging Perspectives on Intercultural and Interreligious Relations (until April 1, 2022, called
Arab-West Report). The articles selected are of particular interest or relevance to intercultural relations and form the basis for our own reporting for
Dialogue Across Borders, daily reporting with a database that is made available to students, researchers, journalists and others.
Dialogue Across Borders; Emerging Perspectives on Intercultural and Interreligious Relations is produced by CIDT and is published by the
Stichting Arab-West Foundation in cooperation with Brill Academic Publishers in The Netherlands.
