Based on inteviews conducted in 2012, this report documents the process of forming the Egyptian Constituent Assembly and provides and in-depth discussion of the 2012 constitution from liberal and Islamist perspectives. Debates surrounding the constitution lie at the core of disputes between Islamists and non-Islamists and their struggle to determine the identity of the Republic of Egypt. It is published in English by Arab West Report under the title The Development of Egypt’s Constitution: Analysis, Assessment, and Sorting.
